So, I start an internship at a nearby orthopedic practice tomorrow and I couldn't be more nervous. I mean, I'm sure they won't expect me to be Ms. perfectly knowledgeable since I'm just a Sophomore/Junior undergrad, studying Biology, but stilllllll....

*nervous handflailing*

ALL of the docs there are men (can we have some more estrogen please?), and despite two of them seeing me before, I'm still so worried about making a good impression that I could EXPLOOOODE.

Why orthopedics, you ask? And what the hell is orthopedics? For those of you who don't know medical terminology, orthopedics is working with skeletal and muscular problems (fixing sport injuries, badly broken bones, congenital defects, joint replacement, etc). Well, I'm interested in it because I've dealt with hip dysplasia (underdeveloped hip sockets and all of the pain and problems that go with that) all of my life and have a lot of personal experience with therapy/braces/casting/surgery, and I feel there's nothing cooler, nor more rewarding, that I could do with my life than help people with the same kind of problems!

But dammit, I'm still SCARED to go into that office as an intern, even though I'm going to be shadowing the man who operated on me as an infant and young child! I know Dr. Demuth knows me, and he remembered me, even after not seeing me for a decade, but the vice in my chest just will not stop squeezing.
